Abstract

The technical efficiency of catfish production in Davao City has been studied utilizing data envelopment analysis. With the aim of doing so, a total of 51 catfish farms located in Davao City were considered as the decision-making units (DMUs) to be assessed in this study. The catfish farms’ input and output profiles were determined. The econometric analysis was implemented using multi-stage DEA in DEAP 2.1 software. The results reveal that four (4) farms are fully efficient having 1.00 technical efficiency scores in both constant returns-to-scale and variable returns-to-scale assumptions. Out of the four, Farm 5 is can be benchmarked by 29 other farms based on peer count summary. Moreover, in analyzing the total efficiency, it is relevant to discern the input slacks, which can advise aspects that require attention in order for the farmers to be efficient.
