The JEES Manuscript Formatting
The following is the style guide on the preparation of the manuscripts for submission to the JEES. Authors must adhere to the journal's format and style guidelines to prevent the rejection of their manuscript.

Important: Please adhere to the following standard format for manuscript submission. You can download the journal's template by clicking JEES Manuscript Journal Template.

i. Content and Format of Articles and Reports
Articles and Reports typically contain:

  • 6,000 to 10,000 words (excluding display items such as tables, figures, and images) single-spaced.

The sequence of the content is as follows:

  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Research Method
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion

ABSTRACT
The abstract is a concise and normally consists of a single paragraph of approximately 250 words. The abstract of a paper approved to the JEES offers a concise overview of the topic and its corresponding field, the underlying justification for conducting the research, and the overall conclusion reached. The author may include an emphasized discovery to emphasize the substantial contribution of the work to the area or the potential impact that could arise from the findings or conclusions.

KEYWORDS
At most 5 (five) keywords can be included.

TEXT OR BODY OF THE PAPER
The body of the paper includes:

  • Introduction, which contains the overview of the study, urgency/research gap, local context and scenarios, research objectives, and the significance of the study, if applicable.
  • Research Methods, with the elements (i.e. research design, respondents/units of analysis, research instruments/materials/datasets, data collection or extraction, processing, data analysis/statistical tools used, and ethical considerations) written as concisely as possible and avoiding too detailed descriptions of methods that have already been published.
  • Results and Discussion, containing an objective and concise presentation of findings, with clear interpretations from which main conclusions are derived.
  • Conclusion, emphasizing the contribution of the scientific research and its socio-economic or theoretical/academic implications.

FOR DISPLAY ITEMS SUCH AS TABLES, FIGURES, EQUATIONS, AND IMAGES

  • Every Table should have a title to accompany it. Table tools in MS Word are to be used for inserting a table. Tables should be numbered and cited in the text.
  • A Figure or Image should have a caption and typed separately (not on the figure area). Figures and images are to be sequentially numbered as well. They have to be cited in the text. These display items must be created at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. For fuzzy or pixelized figures and images pasted on the text, authors are required to send the original files of the item.
  • As much as possible, do not created equations as pictures.

REFERENCES
JEES generally uses APA Version 7 format both for parenthetical citations and reference citations. All sources/citations in the text must appear in the reference list. Authors are requested to check all references for completeness, such as author names, title of article, journal or book title, published, volume and issue numbers, pages from journal papers, year, and other reference details according to the type of material. Where applicable, DOI of online materials (journals and books) have to be reported. Sample list of APA-style references are available online.

ii. Content and Format of Book Reviews
Book Reviews can contain 600-700 words double-spaced. Manuscripts are written in English. Its sole display item is the front cover of the book.

TITLES
The author of a Book Review need not think of a title for his/her review essay. As this is a different category of paper, the Editorial Team lodges it under the Book Review section found in the last few pages of the Journal.

AUTHOR NAME
Author name is sequenced First, Middle Initial, Last. Omit academic titles and degree attached to the name. Write the institutional affiliation instead. A Book Review is written by a sole author.

TEXT OR BODY OF THE PAPER
A Book Review essay begins by readily stating the main theme/topic/argument of the book. Included as well is the aim of the author for writing the review, and in certain cases may state the scope or boundaries of the review.
The body of a text contains specific information that expands upon the central theme, issue, or argument. If the author needs to discuss the book's contents, they should do so succinctly, primarily to utilize the contents as a means of clarifying the theme or issue. Consider the target audience who might benefit from the book or find its contents interesting, highlighting its strengths and flaws, particularly as a potential resource. Explain to the audience the distinctiveness and essentiality of the book within the topic of study. An author may explicitly express the extent to which the book has influenced and altered their perspectives upon engaging with its content. However, provide a constructive assessment of its flaws, offering a fair and balanced opinion. Verify that statements are supported by evidence and not solely reliant on the reviewer's opinions or beliefs. Avoid writing a review that focuses on suggesting what the author should have written instead of discussing the actual content of the published work.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, state categorically recommendation to the book's would-be-users, making a general statement of assessment of both its accomplishments and weaknesses.
