About the Journal
GOMANAN (ISSN 3028-0338) is a journal of researches, current issues, and trends in social sciences, business, law enforcement, and human welfare. Gomanan is a Bagobo-Tagabawa term of a forge, an essential part of the tribe's culture and traditions. From this forge, blacksmiths make their farm tools and weapons.
With the concept of Gomanan, UM Bansalan College, as a higher learning institution, is not only committed to teaching (instruction) but also to 'forge’ knowledge (research) and utilize the outputs of the intellect to support the larger community (extension).
Gomanan as a research journal serves as a forge that binds the generated knowledge and stories of the lives of the local members of the community.
Current Issue
The student researchers at UM Bansalan College are aware of the vital role that research plays in the college's three functions; thus, conducting research is one of their scholarly activities.
The research projects featured in this year's issue of Gomanan are examples of students' scholarly endeavors. Three of the seven research outputs are undergraduate research projects undertaken by BS Criminology students. The other three are research projects completed as part of the BS in Business Administration program's requirements. Also, one research output from the BS in Accounting Technology program is included. Moreover, the three Criminology research outputs were presented by students during the 1st National Research Congress and 1st Scientific Meeting of the Philippine Coleopterological Network (PhilColNet) last April 2019 at the University of Mindanao – Davao City. Two of the Business Administration researches were also presented in the Madayaw Multidisciplinary Research Conferences in 2019 and 2020 at Davao City. Lastly, students presented the Accounting Technology program's research output during the 1st International Joint Conference on Biodiversity and Technology and Social Science in March 2020.
Taken together, these research outputs demonstrate students' ability to produce internationalization-focused research that will benefit society as a whole and the college in particular.
